Misaki Doi v Kristina Kucova Head to Head

It wasn’t the best season for Doi as she slumped from one defeat to another, as she failed to move past the opening round in 16 of the tournaments she participated in all season.
Only towards the end of the year did Doi show some resilience, as she featured in and won a title on the ITF circuit. Participating in Tyler, Doi went on to drop just one set en route the tournament victory.
Following that victory, Doi then reached the quarterfinal stage at WTA Midland to take something of a positive from 2021.
In the four tournaments which Doi had played in Australia last season, the Japanese player was 2-4 in main draws last season. Can she get off to a better start than that when she takes on the higher-ranked Kucova?

Kucova Makes Solid Recovery Towards 2021 End
Having fallen to 162nd on the WTA charts in June last season, Kucova fought back strongly to end the season after breaking into the top 100.
The Slovakian player turned things around in Gdynia when she raced to the final of that tournament and followed that up with a quarterfinal showing in Romania.
As a qualifier at the US Open, Kucova managed a second round which needed her to defeat the much more fancied Ann Li in her opener. Later in the year, she reached the semifinal of an ITF tournament in Funchal before making the final in Dubai in another ITF competition.
