Murray Returns to Melbourne
Melbourne holds mixed memories for Andy Murray.
On the plus side he has five times been a finalist at the Australian Open, although he finished on the losing side on each occasion.
On the negative side it was after bowing out of that tournament three years ago that he announced he may need to retire from tennis altogether because of persistent injury.
In the interim, revolutionary surgery has enabled him to resume his career, although he is realistic enough to admit it is unlikely that he can get back to the previous level he once occupied.
However, with the assurance that he has a wildcard for the first Grand Slam of the year in his pocket, he can concentrate on finding some form ahead of that’ he has shown that he can go head-to-head with the world’s best on an individual match basis, now he needs to sustain that over a tournament.

Bagnis Still Looking for Senior Singles’ Success
Although he has been a professional since 2007, Bagnis has yet to taste singles success on the ATP tour, although he did win the doubles tile in Stuttgart in 2018, and reached the final in Chile last March, before losing to local man Cristian Garin.
He has, though, won titles on the Challenger tour, most recently in Austria last July, a tournament that was played on clay, the surface that he prefers along with most South American players.
His own record at the Australian Open is much more modest than Murray’s having only qualified for the main draw once, and that was in 2017 when he lost in the first round.
Progress to the third round of the US Open in September was his best recent result on the senior tour.
Murray v Bagnis Prediction and Tip
Although Bagnis is the higher ranked, that statistic belies the fact that Murray is the better player and will start the favourite, provided always that his body stands up to the stress.
Tip: Murray to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
