Felix Auger-Aliassime v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

Auger-Aliassime has won both their previous matches, winning in Indian Wells in 2019 and in Vienna last year.

Auger-Aliassime Goes Down to Fritz in Opener

Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime suffered an early setback as he went down to America’s Taylor Fritz in his singles match on Sunday. The Canadian made a remarkable comeback in the first-set tiebreak, saving four set points and overcoming a 2-6 deficit to take the set 7-6 (8-6). But he couldn’t capitalise on the lead, as Fritz clawed his way back into the match, breaking the Canadian once in each of the next two sets to win the contest 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-4.

With Denis Shapovalov skipping his singles match due to fatigue, John Isner defeated his replacement Brayden Schnur with ease, and then the American pair of Isner and Fritz defeated Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov in the doubles to blank the Canadians 3-0.

Following Sunday’s defeat, Auger-Aliassime is now 1-4 at the ATP Cup, having finished with a 1-3 record in 2020.

The 21-year-old is coming off a decent 38-24 season that saw him peak to No. 10 for a week in November. Currently ranked No. 11, he reached two more finals at Melbourne-2 and Stuttgart last season, but his winless run in finals extended to 0-8.

Having suffered a tough loss on Sunday, the Canadian will be looking to get back to winning ways on Tuesday, but faces a tough opponent in Norrie.

Norrie Outplayed by Zverev

Britain’s Cameron Norrie had a solid start against Alexander Zverev in his singles match against Germany, not getting broken in his first six service games, but he was eventually overpowered by the World No. 3 in the tiebreaker and then couldn’t match up to the same level as he went down 6-7 (2-7), 1-6.

Despite Norrie’s defeat, Great Britain won the tie 2-1, thanks to Dan Evans’s singles win over Jan-Lenard Struff, and Evans and Jammie Murray’s doubles victory over Zverev and Kevin Krawietz.

The 26-year-old Briton, who had a brilliant 2021 season, gained 62 places in the rankings to end the season as No. 12. The impressive 52-25 season saw him feature in six finals. He won his maiden ATP title in Los Cabos and then captured a first ATP 1000 crown at Indian Wells.

The lefty, who had reached just one final before 2021, also finished runner-up in Estoril, Lyon, Queen’s and San Diego.

Although he had a shaky start, he will be hoping to quickly regain his last year’s form.

Auger-Aliassime v Norrie Prediction and Tip
