Sara Sorribes Tormo v Beatriz Haddad Maia Head to Head
Beatriz Haddad Maia leads the series 2-1, winning matches in Seoul and Bogota. However, it was Sorribes Tormo who was victorious in their last collision at the Bol Open in 2019.

Sorribes Tormo Forges Reputation Of Iron Woman
Sara Sorribes Tormo is not just the most resilient WTA player out there, but her endurance and battling qualities are unmatched. That partly explains why her matches almost invariably tend to go the distance.
Sorribes Tormo was involved in two of the longest WTA matches of 2021, whilst also leading in matches that lasted over two hours at some point last season. The fact that she can go to deep waters and grind out a win is a hallmark of her stamina. It also means that she is not a pushover by any stretch.
The 25-year-old had a year to remember on the WTA’s main tour. She won her maiden title in Guadalajara and maintained that sizzling run of form at the North American hard-court swing.
Sorribes Tormo played 15 sets in five matches at the Miami Open where she made the quarterfinals. She chalked one upset after another in southeastern Florida. But the biggest highlight of her 2021 season was her stunning win over World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty in the first round of the Tokyo Olympics. It was a performance and result that sent shockwaves across the tennis world.
Sitting at 36 in the rankings, Sorribes Tormo begins her quest for another barnstorming year.

Haddad Maia Re-Enters Top 100
Beatriz Haddad Maia plied her trade on the ITF circuit in the past 18 months. The Brazilian southpaw made headlines in 2019 when she was banned for 10 months due to a positive doping test. That meant that she had to forfeit her world ranking points and pretty much had to start from scratch.
Her ban was revised in February of 2020, and was given the all-clear to return to court, avoiding a hefty punishment that could have extended her absence from competing.
Haddad Maia went to the lower rungs of women’s tennis as she attempted to haul herself to within an improbable double-digit ranking.
The 25-year-old won nine titles in two years and in almost incredible fashion finds herself inside the world’s top 100. Last year she produced the finest win of her career by upsetting former World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova in Indian Wells.
Sorribes Tormo v Haddad Maia Prediction and Tip
This is a tough one to call. Sorribes Tormo’s hard-court prowess belies the notion that she is a clay-court specialist. Haddad Maia, for her part, has looked razor-sharp on the surface with her ruthless forehand. We are backing the games market.
