Ashleigh Barty v Iga Swiatek Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour. The first one was won by Barty 7-5, 6-4 albeit, it was in the 2021 Madrid Masters on clay courts.

Top seed Ashleigh Barty is off to a sensational start in 2022. Starting with a bye in the second round, she has already left a couple of formidable names in her wake.
In round two, she stuttered a tad bit against Cori Gauff but found her winning way with 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. In the following round, she knocked out the Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin 6-3, 6-4. Throughout these matches, the Aussie has looked in impeccable control and form.
Having maintained the World No. 1 ranking for the last three seasons, the 25-year-old has pretty much established herself at the apex of the game. Last year, Barty picked up five singles titles – including the Miami Open, Wimbledon, and Cincinnati Open.
Now in Swiatek, she finds a formidable opponent. However, given Barty’s track record of 42-8 in 2021, it is going to be tough for the Pole to get through to the final.

Swiatek, On a Roll Herself
Defending champion Iga Swiatek has been more than impressive in Adelaide herself. Starting with Daria Saville in the opener, she moved on to knock out the US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez and former world number one Victoria Azarenka to reach the semis.
The 20-year-old did face some resistance from Azarenka, fighting hard for an hour and 57 minutes. Ultimately, she got through with 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to set up this blockbuster match.
Compared to Barty, Swiatek’s 2021 season was bleaker (36-15) but she did crack the top 10. Her only other title apart from Adelaide was the Italian Open trophy although, she did reach the quarterfinal in the French Open and the semis in the Ostrava Open.
At the end of the season, she also featured in the WTA Finals but couldn’t make it past the group stage.
Barty v Swiatek Prediction and Tip
Barty will start as the heavy favourite but Swiatek is equipped to face this challenge head-on. We’re in store for a terrific match of tennis, one that may go to three sets.
