Frances Tiafoe v Tommy Paul Head to Head
This will be the third meeting between both players with the head-to-head tied at 1-1. While Tiafoe prevailed on the hard courts of Delray Beach in 2020, Paul won in Stockholm right at the end of last season enroute his maiden ATP title.

Frances Tiafoe, often regarded as inconsistent and unable to live up to the hype around him, pulled off some impactful results during the 2021 season.
The American defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas twice in the season, and recorded other noteworthy wins against players of the likes of Andrey Rublev, Denis Shapovalov, Diego Schwartzman and Jannik Sinner among others.
A quarter-final run at the US Open and a runner-up trophy at the ATP 500 in Vienna were some of the highlights of the last season for Tiafoe.
The 2022 season did not get off to the best of starts for him in the opening week in Adelaide as Tiafoe lost a three-setter to Aussie on a comeback trail, Thanasi Kokkinakis after a first round bye.
Tiafoe will look to a good run this week in preparation for the first major of the season soon thereafter.

Paul Aiming to Better Week 1
American Tommy Paul ended 2021 on a high winning his first ever ATP title at Stockholm right at the end of the season.
On his way to his maiden title, Paul put together some notable scalps in the form of Taylor Fritz, Andy Murray, Frances Tiafoe and Denis Shapovalov.
It was a mixed start to the first week of 2022 for the American as he was pushed to three sets in both his first two rounds, but eventually prevailed against Jiri Vesely and Taro Daniel. However, his campaign came to an end in the quarter-finals against top seed Gael Monfils in straight sets.
Paul will be hoping to better his run in the second week in Adelaide and set himself up confidently for the Aussie Open in a week from now.
