Madison Keys v Tereza Martincova Head to Head

Madison Keys had a fantastic start to her campaign in Adelaide as she defeated the number two seed Elina Svitolina in straight sets. Needing just 78 minutes, the American took the match 6-2, 6-4, to reach the second round.
Keys enjoyed a fantastic service game in that match, dishing out 14 aces and winning 85% of the points on the first serve. In fact, she never gave the Ukrainian a chance to break her service either.
The former top 10 player had a mundane spell in 2021 – so much so that she dropped out of the top 50 and is currently ranked World No. 87. The inconsistency in form and lack of big wins really got to her, with her best run of the year coming in Wimbledon where she reached the fourth round. In the rest of the events, the 26-year-old fell in the early rounds.
But now, following that emphatic win over Svitolina, it seems that Keys is gradually getting back to her former self. She arrived in Adelaide after a second-round loss to Daria Kasatkina in Melbourne last week.
Nonetheless, with a rich pedigree spanning across 10 singles finals – all of which came in Premier events or above – Keys is certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Martincova Survives Yastremska
Tereza Martincova too faced a Ukrainian in her first match of the competition, although it was a bit of a slogfest. Facing Dayana Yastremska, Martincova needed a little over two hours to win the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
The Czech never seemed to be in any real trouble and handled the challenge quite well. With this, the World No. 48 has also picked up her first win of the season, given her first-round loss to Ana Konjuh last week. However, the 27-year-old was a doubles finalist there with Mayar Sherif, ultimately losing to the pairing of Bernarda Pera and Katerina Siniakova.
Martincova entered the 2022 season on the back of a phenomenal time last year. She moved up some 70 odd places in the ranking from the early 100s to the top 50
What made this feat possible was a brilliant spell on the grass with quarterfinal feats in Nottingham and Birmingham, and later the runner-up trophy at her home tournament of Prague Open. Martincova also made it to the third round in Chicago and Ostrava.

This is going to be a brilliant affair to follow. Keys has the experience and some confidence at the moment – meanwhile, Martincova is looking to build on the stellar last season. Both players are well-versed with the game although, Keys should come out on the top.
