Madison Brengle v Alison Riske Head to Head
Riske has absolutely dominated this fixture, holding a 5-0 lead over Brengle. Their last meeting, however, came more than four years ago in the 2017 Tokyo International.

Brengle Dispatches Peterson
Madison Brengle made her way to the quarterfinal in style after defeating the Swedish qualifier Rebecca Peterson in straight sets. The American needed just an hour and 30 minutes to take the match 6-3, 6-2 although, her first-service win rate was quite low at 57%.
She also managed to convert just six out of 19 possible break points, implying that the match could have been over much sooner. That said, it’s still an improvement over her three-set affair in the opener here against Anastasia Potapova.
Nonetheless, this is a possible result for Brengle as she has made it to her first WTA 250 quarterfinal since the 2019 Nurnberg Cup. All her penultimate round appearances since then have come in the ITF and Challenger tournaments.
Last year, the 31-year-old reached a couple of ITF finals and also won the Midland Challenger towards the end of the season. Brengle also made great progress as a player, having finished as World No. 59 after starting in the early 80s.

Riske, Yet to Drop a Set
World No. 57 Alison Riske has had a good run in Adelaide so far. After defeating Magda Linette 6-4, 6-4 in the opener, she moved on to beat Anhelina Kalinina 6-1, 6-3 in an hour and 12 minutes.
Riske doled out six aces over the course of the match, in addition to winning 74% of her points on the first service.
Her ongoing stint has also come as an improvement over last week’s results in Melbourne, where the 31-year-old fell to Vera Zvonareva in the opener.
Last season, Riske battled a loss of form, combined with a slight hiatus from the action on the tour. She wasn’t predominantly active in the first half of the season and started to play some serious tennis only from July onwards. Towards the final stages of the season, she was the runner-up in the WTA Portoroz and later won the title in Linz.
As the former World No. 18, Riske is certainly well-versed with the nuances of the game and has the experience needed to go big again.
Brengle v Riske Prediction and Tip
There isn’t a whole lot that separates the two players at the moment. Riske, however, is a considerably better player on the whole and will start as the favourite.
However, the reasonable thing to do would be to expect a three-setter that can just as likely go the other way.
