Cori Gauff v Ana Konjuh Head to Head

Cori Gauff started her campaign in Adelaide with a clinical, straight-set victory over Katerina Siniakova. In the next round, however, the third seed had to work hard to see herself through.
Facing the Ukrainian teen Marta Kostyuk, it was a battle of the evens between the two which the American prodigy ultimately won in a little under two hours. Gauff took the match 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 – saving four out of six break points and winning 70% of the points on the first serve.
With these wins, the 17-year-0ld has already surpassed her results from last week in the WTA 500 version of the tournament, where she succumbed to Ashleigh Barty in the second round. Gauff has also made it to her first quarterfinal since the Canadian Open last year.
Currently ranked World No. 19, Gauff has already achieved a great deal and continues to do so. She reached the penultimate rounds in several big events last season and also won her second singles title – this one at the Emilia-Romagna Open.

Another Consistent Run by Konjuh
Ana Konjuh seems to be well on her way to reclaim her former glory. Last year, she started the tour outside the top 500 and finished it as World No. 66. Following the layoff due to surgery and subsequent recovery, the Croatian is working hard and so far, has been quite impressive.
Case in point, she has already made it to her second quarterfinal of 2022. Here in Adelaide, she first defeated Daria Saville in straight sets and then knocked out the sixth-seed Marketa Vondrousova 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(3) in a little under two and a half hours. In fact, Konjuh saved a crucial match point against the Czech to keep her hopes alive in the tournament.
The 24-year-old reached the same stage in last year’s Melbourne Summer Set 1 where she lost to Qinwen Zheng. This time, she will hope to go further.
As for her exploits from the previous season, Konjuh reached her first singles final since 2017 at the Belgrade Open. Later on, she also reached the semifinal at the Mubadala Valley Classic.
Gauff v Konjuh Prediction and Tip
In terms of ranking, Gauff is currently where Konjuh was a few seasons ago. That said, Konjuh is of course more experienced and as a former top 20 player, has the skills to take on the in-form athletes. We are in for a good match of tennis, one that can go either way.
