Coco Gauff v Wang Qiang Head to Head
Coco Gauff leads Wang Qiang 2-0 in their head-to-head. Both matches were contested in the 2021 season, including a second-rond meeting at the French Open.

Top 20 Gauff A Serious Threat
At 17, Coco Gauff enters her fifth season on the professional tour. While most careers haven’t quite taken off, Gauff is flying at remarkable lengths and in knots.
The American teenage sensation is the youngest tennis player inside the top 100 of the women’s rankings, sitting at a comfortable No. 19. 2021 was Gauff’s career-best season by a mile. She won her second WTA title on the clay courts of Parma and memroably made the quarterfinals of the French Open, garnering a stunning upset over Tunisian trailblazer Ons Jabeur.
Gauff enfured a slump towards the end of the year, as she failed to string back-to-back wins at three tournaments to close out the year. But still, she managed to crack the Top 20 for the first time in her fledgling career as her ascent on the global ranks of women’s tennis gathers pace.
Gauff has posted a 4-2 record to start the year, losing both times to eventual toirnamnent champions Ashleigh Barty and Madison Keys respectively. The 17-year-old has never lost a first-round of the Australian Open in each of her two previous appearances.

Wang Struggles To Hit Purple Patch
The Australian Open should serve up fond memories for Qiang Wang who sensationally defeated 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams at the 2020 edition. Her fourth-round showing that season is her best appearance at Melbourne Park in seven main draw appearances.
Rather than serve as the catalyst for unmitigated success, Wang endured a dreadful return of results. The timing of the coronavirus pandemic largely affected her form as she ended her 2020 season at the end of March.
Wang managed to eke out a decent run on the clay courts of Parma last May, reaching the championship match and losing to Gauff. But that aside, her results were unspectacular.
The 30-year-old finished 2021 with a year-end ranking of 104 – marking the first time since 2015 she has finished outside the world’s top 100. She enters Monday’s match languishing at No. 112, losing in the qualifying rounds at two warm-up tournaments.
Gauff v Wang Prediction and Tip
Wang is not intimidated at the prospect of facing pre-match favorites as evident with her win over Serena two years ago. But it would be a major shock if she managed to conquer Gauff on Monday. The Chinese woman does not have the weapons at her disposal to match the young American when she is in the zone.
