Alison Van Uytvanck v Qiang Wang Head to Head
The tally between the two players is tied at 1-1 with Wang getting the last laugh in the 2019 US Open round of 64.

Wang Dispatches Gauff
Qiang Wang started her campaign in Melbourne with a 6-4, 6-2 win over the 18th seeded American Cori Gauff. She is now up 2-0 against the teenager – a feat she achieved while committing just 15 unforced errors to Gauff’s 38.
The 30-year-old hasn’t been particularly impressive in Grand Slams, barring a quarterfinal run in the US Open a couple of seasons ago. A majority of her previous stints have ended in the third round except for the 2020 Aus Open, where she made it a step further.
Currently ranked World No. 110, Wang ended the 2021 season with 9-13 right after the Olympics. She did, however, reach the final at the Emilia-Romagna Open a few weeks before.
Before arriving for the Australian Open, Wang was beaten in consecutive qualifiers in Melbourne 1 and Adelaide 2. All these, in conjunctions, presents a clearer picture of Wang’s recent form and abilities. She may give Van Uytvanck a solid run for her money but carving upsets in the subsequent rounds will be difficult.

Van Uytvanck Knocks Out Bucsa
Alison Van Uytvanck is also off to a good start here in the Slam, defeating the Spaniard qualifier Cristina Bucșa 6-3, 6-4. The Belgian won 72% of the points on the first serve while striking 18 winners and 22 unforced errors.
The 27-year-old will be pleased with this performance, having made it to round two for the first time this season. She last featured in Melbourne and Adelaide Sets, where she fell in the opening/qualifying rounds.
Towards the end of the last season, Van Uytvanck enjoyed a brief revival on the tour. The World No. 55 won the Astana Open (her first singles title since September 2019), the doubles at Luxembourg Open, and the Limoges Challenger in December. She clearly has some momentum and should do well to deliver a good run in the competition.
Van Uytvanck v Wang Prediction and Tip
While Van Uytvanck will start this match as the favourite, Wang has indeed got a decent chance to win here. This game can swing either way but we may be looking at a slogfest.
