Tsitsipas Eases Past Ymer
Strangely for Tsitsipas, while being a favourite coming into his first round match, the odds on offer for the win was 1/5 – one of the longest among the top players featuring in the first round. It might have to do with the manner in which he fell to Diego Schwartzman in his opening ATP Cup encounter.
And with only five games possible in the second match he played – against Nikoloz Basilashvili who then retired from the match – there was always that sense of some amount of rustiness associated with Tsitsipas.
The Greek number one dispelled that with a solid showing in his opening win, defeating Mikael Ymer in straight sets in two hours and 12 minutes.
Tsitsipas won 6-2, 6-4, 6-3 to march into the second despite getting broken twice in the encounter including when Ymer took a 2-0 lead in the second set.
Things could get trickier as the tournament proceeds, but for now, this win should give him enough confidence to help bail him out of any negativities from the ATP Cup showing.

Baez Edges Out Ramos-Vinolas
Coming into his opener as a favourite despite being ranked 44 places behind his opponent, Baez was made to scrape for his opening round win over Albert Ramos-Vinolas.
The 21-year-old Argentine came through 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to follow up his opening round win at the Sydney International last week where he had made it to the main draw as a qualifier.
A clay court specialist who had won six Challenger titles last year – propelling his ranking from outside the top 300 to his current 88th – Baez took nearly three and a half hours to win his first ever main draw match at a Grand Slam.
And while Tsitsipas could be a bridge too far to navigate, Baez will take heart from the fact that the Greek might not be playing his best tennis in recent times.
Tsitsipas v Baez Prediction and Tip
Despite Baez’s confidence, Tsitsipas should not have a lot of trouble in this one. Look out for the number of games though, as one could see a tie-breaker or two in the match.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
