The second week of the 2022 Australian Open has high-stakes matches on the schedule. World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty is bidding to win her maiden Grand Slam on home soil but faces a major test against in-form Amanda Anisimova. Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini will also be looking to avoid tumbling on Sunday. On that note, here are our three best bets from the Australian Open 2022, January 23.

Alexander Zverev vs Denis Shapovalov Betting Tips
The days of Alexander Zverev producing tepid performances in Grand Slams are well and truly over. Zverev has gone against the grain in recent seasons. From being an afterthought, he is now a genuine contender at tennis’ biggest stages.
With a Grand Slam final and an Olympic gold medal on his resume, the German’s early struggles are foolproof that experience was lacking in those embryonic years.
Zverev has reached the second week of the Australian Open for the third straight year with victories over Daniel Altmaier, John Millman, and more recently against Radu Albot.
Ahead of his first meeting against a seeded opponent this fortnight, his Australian Open title bid will be put to the test. He takes on Denis Shapovalov, who in fairness, has stumbled to get to this stage
Zverev leads the head-to-head 4-2. But four of those six meetings have featured at least 22 games in a best of three. Shapovalov has struck 52 aces in three matches this week (albeit none of those matches ended in straight sets), while Zverev has hit 44. Should both players put up immaculate serving numbers, we reckon this Round of 16 encounter should easily hit the 35.5 games market.

Ashleigh Barty v Amanda Anisimova Betting Tips
World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty is on course to win her maiden Australian Open title. She is unbeaten since the turn of the year, winning her 14th career title in Adelaide in the past couple of weeks and extending that winning sequence in Melbourne.
Strangely enough, Barty has always stumbled when the finish line is in sight at her home Slam down the years. But could that change this time?
Amanda Anisimova will be her first acid test of the fortnight. The American, in comparison, is also yet to be beaten in 2022. And she enters Sunday’s mouthwatering clash on the back of a major upset in the third round. A super tiebreak win over Naomi Osaka has ignited some serious interest in Anisimova’s ambitions this weekend. Could this be the year she finally fulfills her promise?
Barty has held all 23 of her service games at this year’s Australian Open. And remarkably, the last time she dropped serve was in her opening match at the Adelaide International against Coco Gauff. I am not sure Anisimova will be adept to post back-to-back wins against two of the pre-tournament favorites.

Matteo Berrettini v Pablo Carreno Busta Betting Tips
Many pundits and fans had written off Matteo Berrettini’s chances of reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open. Even the bookmakers had him as the underdog in his third-round match against Carlos Alcaraz.
Part of it was because there were serious question marks regarding his health after suffering a stomach issue in his first-round win against Brandon Nakashima. Then he dropped sets to Stefan Kozlov and Alcaraz, the latter after establishing a 2-0 sets lead.
But the Italian has put his big-match experience to the table and did not succumb to the aggression and intensity that the young Spaniard produced.
His next test will also be another Spaniard, Pablo Carreno Busta, who advanced to the Round of 16 at Melbourne Park for the third time in his career.
In comparison, Carreno Busta has navigated his way into the second week in a not too dissimilar fashion. He has accumulated nearly 10 hours of tennis in three matches, sneaking past a couple of tricky challengers in Tallon Griekspoor and Sebastian Korda.
I still think this match rests on Berrettini’s racket. His first-serve has bailed him out of trouble numerous times and should give him the platform to succeed against an excellent counter-puncher in Carreno Busta.
