Iga Swiatek v Sorana Cirstea Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Swiatek, Looking Unstoppable
World No. 9 Iga Swiatek is having herself a terrific Australian Open campaign. She has made it to the fourth round for the third successive edition and will now hope to go further.
She is yet to drop a set so far in Melbourne; if anything, all three of her wins have been absolutely clinical. The Pole has dropped just 12 games en route, averaging at roughly five games per match.
After making easy work of Harriet Dart and Rebecca Peterson in the openers, Swiatek was to face her toughest game yet against the in-form Russian Daria Kasatkina. The 20-year-old, however, met the challenge superbly and knocked out Kasatkina with 6-2, 6-3. Although she made her fair share of unforced errors, Swiatek’s pedigree lies in her ability to position the strokes cleverly.
This also explains why her winners count has always been on the higher end than her opponents’.
The reigning Italian Open champion also enjoyed a good start to the year by reaching the semifinal in Adelaide 1. While she lost to Ashleigh Barty there, she did beat the likes of Leylah Fernandez and Victoria Azarenka.

Cirstea Matches her Best AO Results
Sorana Cirstea reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in style by knocking out last year’s Roland Garros runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Need just an hour and 43 minutes, the Romanian prevailed on the back of 17 unforced errors to the Russian’s 31, and a 68% first-service win rate.
The 31-year-old also knocked out the former world number two Petra Kvitova in the opener and a common theme there was keeping her error count on the low side.
If she manages to keep this kind of efficiency going against Swiatek, Cirstea may just have a fighting chance. There has been only one other time when the current World No. 38 has made it this far in Melbourne – it was back in 2017.
Cirstea didn’t enjoy the best of the starts to the season with just one win but has certainly done well to make amends for it here. Last year, she reached the final of a couple of clay events but on hard courts, she wasn’t half as impressive.
Swiatek v Cirstea Prediction and Tip
Cirstea is definitely more experienced at the game than Swiatek but lacks momentum at the moment. However, she is equipped to deliver the upset but it is going to be a tall order, especially considering that the Pole is better versed in handling big matches against the elites on the tour.
It will be a test for both players but Swiatek, given her superior pedigree, should come out on the top.
Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
