Daniil Medvedev v Stefanos Tsitsipas Head to Head
Medvedev has a 6-2 record against the Greek and that includes a straight sets win over Tsitsipas in last year’s Australian Open semifinal.
Tsitsipas’ wins came at the Round Robin phase of the ATP Finals in 2019 and in the quarterfinals of the French Open last year.
Medvedev won in Miami, Basel and at the U.S. Open in 2018; in Monte Carlo and Shanghai in 2019; and in Melbourne last year.

Medvedev Wins Humdinger Against Auger-Aliassime
World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev rallied from two sets down to upstage World No. 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime in a engrossing Australian Open quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Auger-Aliassime had raced to a two-sets-to-love lead in the match, but a resilient Medvedev made an emphatic comeback into the contest, overpowering the 21-year-old 6-7 (4-7), 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5, 6-4 in a four-hour-and-42-minute contest.
After the first two sets it seemed the Canadian was on his way to avenging his 2021 U.S. Open semifinal defeat to Medvedev, but yet again the pressure of a big match got to him. Auger-Aliassime, who has a 0-8 record in tour-level finals, bowed out of the Australian Open after throwing away a two sets lead for the second straight year. He won the first two sets against Aslan Karatsev last year but went down in the next three to miss out on a place in the quarterfinals.
This year, he even had a match point on Medvedev’s serve at 4-5 (30-40) in the fourth set, but the Russian found a way to save the match point on the back of a big serve and kept his chances alive.
Auger-Aliassime had won the first set in a tough tiebreak and then got the only break of the second set in the third game before going up by two sets.
In the third, Medvedev saved a break point in the third game and then went on to dominate the tiebreak to begin his comeback bid. He saved the match point in the 10th game of the fourth set and then broke the Canadian in the very next game before serving out the set.
With the match poised at 2-2, Medvedev started the fifth brilliantly, breaking Auger-Aliassime in the third game. The Canadian had an opportunity to break back in the eighth game but Medvedev was equal to his task.
Serving for the match at 5-4, Medvedev found himself 0-30 down and then faced two break points at 15-40. The Russian saved both with Auger-Aliassime making two unforced errors and then made no mistakes over the next two points to extend his perfect run against the Canadian to 4-0.
Aiming to win back-to-back majors, the 2021 U.S. Open champion had begun his Australian Open campaign with a 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win over Switzerland’s Henri Laaksonen in the first round. He then overcame Nick Kyrgios in a high-intensity second-round clash, defeating the Australian 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Medvedev dominated Botic Van de Zandschulp in the third round, handing the Dutch a 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 rout, before having to tough it out against serve-and-volley expert Maxime Cressy in the Round of 16 on Monday. The American had his moments in the match, but Medvedev remained composed and pulled off a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (4-7), 7-5 victory in three hours and 30 minutes on the Margaret Court Arena.
He was stretched to the hilt by Auger-Aliassime at the Rod Laver Arena on the Wednesday, but he forged his way back to overturn a two-sets-to-love deficit for just the second time in his career. Medvedev struck a total of 49 winners in the match, 16 less than his opponent, but fared far better when it came to unforced errors, making just 53 of them compared to the Canadian’s 75.
With the win, Medvedev is now one step away from a second consecutive final appearance at the Melbourne Slam. And next up for him is a rematch against the player he defeated last year at the same stage in straight sets. Can he pull of a repeat performance this year?

Tsitsipas Breezes Past Sinner
World No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas produced high-quality tennis at the Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, as he demolished in-form Italian Jannik Sinner to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open for the third time in his career.
Having survived a dramatic five-setter against Taylor Fritz in the fourth round on Monday, the 23-year-old Greek brought out his A-game in the quarterfinals. He didn’t face a single break point and converted all four that he held during the match.
While Sinner had been in top form throughout the tournament, he had no answer to the Greek’s power and shot-making ability. Not even a rain delay could unsettle Tsitsipas on the day, as he struck 30 winners on his way to victory in two hours and six minutes.
The 2021 French Open finalist, who also reached the semifinals of the opening major in 2019 and 2021, had needed three hours and 23 minutes to dispatch Fritz 4-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the Round of 16.
That wasn’t the only tough match that Tsitsipas played in the tournament. He needed three hours and 22 minutes to edge past Argentina’s Sebastian Baez 7-6 (7-1), 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4 in the second round, and two hours and 42 minutes to hold off France’s Benoit Paire 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4.
He had a relatively easy first round contest, though, defeating Sweden’s Mikael Ymer 6-2, 6-4, 6-3.
Having lost the previous two semifinals in straight sets, Tsitsipas will be hoping for a much better display this time around as he eyes a second major final and a first in Melbourne.
Medvedev v Tsitsipas Prediction and Tip
Both have reached the semifinals in contrasting fashions. While Tsitsipas played his best tennis of the season on Wednesday, Medvedev came back from the brink of elimination to show his mettle.
The Russian has dominated the rivalry and will be the favourite to win on Friday, but expect Tsitsipas to put up a real good show. It’s anther classic in the making. Expect a five-setter with Medvedev advancing.
Tip: Medvedev to win AND Both players to win a set: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
