Bublik Still Looking for Senior Success

Bublik is still looking for success on the senior tour, although he has come close on a number of occasions, particularly last year.

He began 2021 by reaching the final In Antalya, losing to Alex de Minaur, and, a month later, reached yet another final this time in  Singapore, where he lost to another Australian Alexei Poyrin.

Then at the French Open in June, he reached the final of the men’s doubles with compatriot Andrey Golubev, only to have to content himself with the runners-up cheque once more.

His 2022 began in Adelaide, but his stay there was a brief one, beaten in straight sets in the first round by the local wildcard Alexandar Vukic.

He went one stage further in Melbourne, where he beat the American qualifier Ernesto Escubedo in four sets in the first round.

However, he was then well beaten by Gael Monfils, taking just five games off the world number 20.

Griekspoor. the History Man

Griekspoor, the current Dutch number two, made history in 2021 by becoming the first man ever to win eight Challenger titles in a single season, in a mix of clay and hard court events.

As a result, he began the year at an all-time career high ranking and now his ambitions for 2022 are to begin replicating that form on the senior tour.

Competing in the Melbourne Summer Set event, he reached the third round by beating Dominik Koepfer of Germany and then Popyrin the Australian, before injury forced him to pull out of his planned match with Rafael Nadal.

At the main event itself, the Australian Open, he caused something of an upset by knocking out the world number 32, Fabio Fognini of Italy in straight sets, in their first round match.

Pablo Carreno-Busta, the Olympic silver medallist from last year then ended his run, but was taken to five sets by the Dutch player.

Bublik v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip

Although Bublik won their only previous match, Griekspoor is the man who appears to be in the better recent form, and he will be confident of advancing to the second round.

Tip: Griekspoor to win: 9/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
