Zverev On Red-Hot Run

Top seed and 2021 ATP Tour Finals winner Alexander Zverev started the season with immense promise and plenty of expectations Down Under.

A straight sets loss in the fourth round of the Australian Open to rising Canadian Denis Shapovalov was a disappointment and one that continues to raise doubts on the German’s ability to succeed on the biggest stage.

After a first round bye, Zverev was pushed a little by American Mckenzie McDonald in his opener but prevailed in straight sets in a tight second round tiebreak.

The German has been on a tear dropping only one game in his quarter-final against Adrian Mannarino and following it up with only four games dropping in the  semi-final again Mikael Ymer of Sweden.

Bublik Prevails In Tight Agut Contest

Kazakh Alexander Bublik had a tight start to his campaign here at Montpellier where he prevailed in two tiebreaks in the opener with a  hard-fought 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) victory over the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor.

This was followed by a back and forth three-setter against Frenchman doubles specialist Pierre-Hugues Herbert with Bublik prevailing and setting up a quarter-final clash against Spanish veteran and number two seed Roberto Bautista Agut.

Agut started as a clear favorite, but it was a great display of talent and determination by young Bublik against the ever so gritty Spaniard.

With both players splitting sets, it was a hard fought decider that went down to a tiebreak where  the strong Bublik serve held up well to clinch the set and match 7-4 in the tiebreak.

Playing in-form Serb Filip Krajinovic in the semi-finals it was a clinical display by Bublik who prevailed in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 and qualified for his fifth ATP final still in search for maiden silverware.

Zverev v Bublik Prediction and Tip

Expect a  tight contest between the two in-form players this week. Bublik may even take a set off the German, but except Zverev to prevail and clinch another ATP title for himself
