Denis Shapovalov v Jiri Lehecka Head to Head

Shapovalov and Lehecka have not collided at any level on the ATP scene.

Shapovalov Returns After Australian Open Breakthrough

It was a memorable tournament for two of Canada’s most promising talents at the recently-concluded Australian Open. Both Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov headlined the quarterfinals of the year’s first Grand Slam.

For Shapovalov’s case, he stunned World No. 3 Alexander Zverev en route to the last eight stage where he lost in a fractious match against eventual champion Rafael Nadal.

Under the guidance of Andy Murray’s former coach Jamie Delgado, Shapovalov has bolstered his confidence and patience to new levels. Although there were a few tetchy moments in that quarterfinal against Nadal, Shapovalov remained pleased with his level of play.

For so long, Shapovalov has been knocking at the door of opportunity, and this season could be his moment to shine. He returns to Rotterdam for the third time in his career.

Lehecka Through After Upsetting Moutet

Jiri Lehecka qualified into the main draw of an ATP tour-level tournament for the first time in his career with a fine three-set win over former World No. 67 Corentin Moutet. He backed up his win over Jesper De Jong in the first round of qualifying and will now have the chance to showcase his talent at an ATP 500 event.

Lehecka has already broken new ground this year when he reached the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time at the Australian Open and famously pushed Grigor Dimitrov to four sets in their first-round bout in Melbourne.

Lehecka is one of the most promising crops of young players to come from the Czech Republic, which has been crying out for a successor to the former Top 10 player Tomas Berdych.

The 20-year-old is looking to emulate his success on the lower rungs of men’s tennis onto the senior tour. He won four titles in 2021, with two of those coming at the Challenger level. He has also soared on the ATP rankings, breaking the world’s top 150 for the first time.

Shapovalov v Lehecka Prediction and Tip

This is new territory for Lehecka, but we got a glimpse of the talent he has in him at the Australian Open. Shapovalov will need to be wary that any sort of complacency will be punished.
