Carlos Alcaraz v Jaume Munar Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, on clay in Marbella last year, Munar winning their semi-final in straight sets.

Alcaraz Playing His First Clay Court Match of the Year

At the age of 18, Alcaraz has already broken into the top 30, and many expect him to go even higher before the season is out.

He burst on to the scene last year, winning his first senior title in Croatia, reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open, and then winning the ATP NextGen Finals in Milan.

The teenager again impressed at the Australian Open, reaching the third round, and, although he then lost to Matteo Berettini, the world number six, he gave the Italian a very tough fight, coming back from two sets down and taking it all the way to a fifth set tie-break,

Switching to clay should not cause any issues to a man who has already been tipped as the successor to Rafael Nadal.

Third Event of South American Swing for Munar

.Munar is still searching for success on the senior tour, although he did reach four finals on the Challenger circuit last year – – he won the fist in Antalya, but had to settle for the runner-up spot in the other three.

His best result of 2022 so far came at the Melbourne Summer Set where he reached the quarter-finals before losing to the American Maxime Cressy. He reached the second round in Adelaide, but lost in the first round of the Australian Open to Aslan Karatsev.

So far on the South American swing, he has suffered second round defeats in the two tournaments he has played – beaten by the Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan Riveros in Cordoba, and by Diego Schwartzman in Buenos Aires.

Alcaraz v Munar Prediction and Tip
