Anett Kontaveit v Mayer Shrif Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 26-year old Estonian, and the Egyptian, who is one year younger.

Kontaveit ended 2021 on a high, winning back to back titles in Moscow and Romania, producing a late surge that saw her qualify for the WTA Finals in Mexico, eventually losing in the final itself to Garbine Muguruza.
She then reached the semi-finals in Sydney, and, although he suffered a setback when she was beaten in the second round of the Australian Open, she got back to winning ways in St. Petersburg, reaching another final where she will face Mara Sakkari of Greece.
Along the way she beat the Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic, and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.
She will be confident of another deep run in Dubai.

Sherif Searching for First Win of 2022
By contrast, Sherif has not won a match in 2022 so far.
Her last victory of any sort came when she was beaten in the semi-finals of a Challenger event in November, and her last win on the WTA tour came back in Tenerife last October.
During her stay in Australia, she lost in straight sets to Ann Li of America in the first round of the Melbourne Summer Set tournament, and to Liudmila Samsonova of Russia in the first round in Adelaide.
She did, at least, have the satisfaction of taking a set off Heather Watson of Great Britain in their opening round match of the Australian Open, but ultimately, she suffered another defeat.
This will be her first match since then.
Kontaveit v Sherif Prediction and Tip
Kontaveit is in much the better form of the two, and, unless her efforts in St. Petersburg have taken too much out of her, she should win this match with ease.
