David Goffin v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
This will be a first meeting between the two.

Goffin Plagued by Inconsistency
Ever since winning the Montpellier title last year, David Goffin has looked a bit lost. A knee problem ended his 2021 season prematurely after the U.S. Open. The Belgian finished with a 14-15 record, which included six consecutive losses to end the season.
Goffin seems to have carried that form to 2022. He comes to Qatar with a 3-5 record this season and that includes three first-round exits in Melbourne, Australian Open and in Rotterdam this week, where he was demolished by Alex de Minaur in straight sets.
Goffin had ended his seven-match skid in Sydney, winning the first two rounds against Facundo Bagnis and Denis Kudla respectively to reach the quarterfinals, but he was forced to retire in the last eight stage against Andy Murray.
The World No. 47, who was easily beaten by Daniel Evans in the first round of the Australian Open, began his title defense in Montpellier with a win over Benjamin Bonzi. But he couldn’t go deeper in the tournament, falling to Adrian Mannarino in the next round.
A five time champion from 14 tour-level finals, the 31-year-old will be playing in Doha for the fourth time. He is yet to go past the second round in the tournament.

Ruusuvuori in Top Form
World No. 71 Emil Ruusuvuori has been outstanding so far this year.
The 22-year-old Finn began the season by reaching the semifinals in Melbourne, where he fell to Rafael Nadal in straight sets.
That run was followed by tough first-round defeat to Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Australian Open. The Canadian was forced to play five sets before advancing.
Ruusuvuori’s best showing so far came at the Pune Open, where he reached a maiden ATP final but a first title remained elusive as he went down in three to Joao Sousa.
The former World No. 66 is 7-3 this season and will be making his debut in Qatar.
Goffin v Ruusuvuori Prediction and Tip
While Goffin has struggled big time on the tour, Ruusuvuori has been impressive this season. Expect the Finn to pile more misery on the Belgian in the first round.
