Marton Fucsovics v Soon-woo Kwon Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two players and Kwon had defeated Fucsovics in three sets in that tournament on grass at the Nature Valley International last year.

Fucsovics Aiming for a Third Quarterfinal in a Row

A two-time quarterfinalist at this event, Fucsovics will hope to make it three in a row when he takes to court in Doha later today. And he will have a lower-ranked but a tricky opponent in front of him.

The Hungarian made it to round two with a straight-set win over Lloyd Harris, having registered a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory in his opener.

In a match lasting a minute short of two hours, Fucsovics held off a strong Harris comeback in the second set to carve out the win.

Up a set and a break in the second, Fucsovics was broken back in the eighth game of the second and then fell 0-2 down in the tie-breaker. At 4-4, it looked like Harris could push it into a third but Fucsovics came back to win the next three points and the match.

Can he now stave off the Kwon challenge?

Kwon Hoping to Break the Second Round Hoodoo

This is the sixth tournament Kwon is playing in this year and every single time before this he has managed to win his opening round match. What would have been tough to take is his inability to go that step further, into the next round.

His best chance of winning two in two came at the Australian Open earlier this year, where, having overcome Holger Rune in five sets in the first round, Kwon managed to take a two sets to one lead in the second against Denis Shapovalov.

Unfortunately for him, the world number 55 failed to close it out as Shapovalov clinched a five-set win.

Earlier in this competition, Kwon needed three sets to get past Christopher Eubanks but can he now up the ante and make it successive wins for the first time this year?

Fucsovics v Kwon Prediction and Tip

While Kwon will be desperate for success, it seems highly unlikely Fucsovics will let the pressure off as he looks to improve his own record for the season. Expect a tough battle though.
