Steve Johnson v Stefan Kozlov Head to Head
Kozlov has won two of their three meeting but rather interestingly, both those wins have come on grass. The one other time they met on hard court surface, was at this very tournament in 2017 and Johnson had clinched that opening round encounter in straight sets.

A win over Kevin Anderson in the first round of this competition has taken Johnson closer to what would be his seventh quarterfinal appearance in this tournament. A victory here will also mean it would become the fifth successive time the American will enter the last eight stage.
What that Anderson victory also meant was not only did Johnson overcome the odds to achieve it – he was 11/10 to win the encounter – it broke a two-match losing streak which included defeats to Jannik Sinner and Adrian Mannarino.
It didn’t come easy though with Johnson requiring two hours and three minutes to win 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-2 in that opening round encounter.
Johnson was never broken in the match though, while he sent his opponent’s serve packing on four separate occasions in the match. Can he repeat the dose on his fellow American in this second round match?

Qualifier Kozlov Overcomes Gomez
Having never won a main draw match in this tournament before this, Kozlov finally registered his first victory at Delray Beach. He overcame a first set deficit to defeat Emilio Gomez, winning 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to reach the second.
Needing two hours and 41 minutes, Kozlov overcame four breaks of serves in the entire match but more importantly saved 15 break-point opportunities to make it past his opponent.
Earlier this year, Kozlov had won just one main draw match at the highest level – it had come at Australian Open where he shocked Jiri Vesely in straight sets despite having gone into the encounter at 8/5 odds.
He starts at 13/10 to win this, but the question is if his opponent’s experience will prove to be too good for him?
