Simona Halep has had success in Dubai as she lifted his trophy before. The way she played so far should make her confident about doing it again. Halep thrives in conditions like these which allow her to attack relentlessly. The only thing that can go wrong for Halep is a lack of consistency or a more aggressive player on the opposite side of the net.
2022 opened well for Halep as the Romanian lifted the Melbourne Summer Set I trophy but her result at the Australian Open was a very huge disappointment. She was bested by Alize Cornet which is a matchup she naturally should have won.
Still, Halep has one trophy in the cabinet this year and she will fancy adding another one. To do that she will need to go through Ons Jabeur and then two more players. Her level was good so far but she will need a bit more and whether she can unlock it remains to be seen.

Aggressive Tennis Like Never Before From Jabeur
Ons Jabeur is known as a very finesse player that does not necessarily hit the ball the hardest. Her matches are always beautiful to watch because you can see more variety in her game than probably in the majority of top WTA tennis combined.
However, the Tunisian player is showing an increased level of aggressiveness in DUbai. She is hitting the ball extremely hard, even outhitting Jessica Pegula in the previous round. All tennis fans know how hard Pegula hit the ball so outhitting here is quite a thing.
Jabeur will need that aggressiveness against Halep who is excellent at covering the court. It will be hard to defeat the Romanian but Jabeur certainly can do it if she keeps up her consistency. It was something to behold last year and she is making a leap so far this year.
Halep v Jabeur Prediction and Tip
So this will be a close match. Both players are playing very well so far and I would be shocked to see either winning this matchup easily. When comparing what they have shown in Dubai so far I can’t dismiss the impressive level that Jabeur has displayed.
She has played better and looked very confident in the way she played. Considering it’s different from her usual style it was impressive to behold. Yet she is still prone to the occasional drop in consistency. Halep on the other hand rarely drops her level from a baseline she enters the match with.
If the Romanian plays her best she is the better player yet we have not seen that level too much this year. The Cornet defeat looms large for Halep and the pressure to step up will be huge. I think she won’t able to manage all of that and I think Jabeur will be able to get the win.
