Roberto Bautista-Agut v Alejandro Fokina Head to Head

There has been just one previous meeting between these two players and Fokina had won that Rotterdam Open encounter last year in straight sets. Bautista-Agut would be looking for revenge in this one.

Bautista-Agut Demolishes Murray

It was expected to be a stiff battle for the Spaniard but in the end, all he needed was an hour and eight minutes on court against Britain’s Andy Murray.

Bautista-Agut thrashed Murray 6-0, 6-1, running away with that surprise scoreline after having gotten a first round bye.

Having needed five sets to win in their previous meeting, Bautista-Agut broke Murray to love in his very first service game and then a couple more times to wrap up the opening set.

Murray’s first hold came in the second game of the second set but that was the only game he won as Bautista-Agut ran through five successive games to complete the win.

Having won five of his six singles matches at the ATP Cup earlier this year, Bautista-Agut has lost a bit of form since but a win like this should put him in the right stead coming into this quarterfinal.

Fokina Scrapes Past Evans

Much like Bautista-Agut, Fokina sealed his place in the last eight with a win over a Briton but unlike the world number 16, his victory was anything but straightforward.

Fokina, who had come into this tournament on the back of four losses from five matches he’s played this tournament, needed to overcome a first set loss to defeat Dan Evans 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

With an easy first round win over Malek Jaziri under his belt, Fokina needed two hours and 53 minutes to come back from a set and 1-3 down to carve out the shock victory.

This was despite facing 10 break-points in the entire match as compared to a mere six he got – but he broke Evans four times out of those six to make all the difference.

Bautista-Agut v Fokina Prediction and Tip

Bautista-Agut’s raging form should be enough to see him through this contest but Fokina’s spirited comeback last round should give him some hope of pushing this to a third.
