Bonzi Takes Challenger Form Forward

Having won the title at the Cherbourg Challenger last week, Bonzi had the confidence coming into this tournament and that showed in his first round win over Kamil Majchrzak.

Bonzi registered a fighting, but straight-set 7-6 (1), 6-4 win over Kamil Majchrzak, helping him through to the second round of a competition for the third time this year.

Earlier, Bonzi had won his openers in Adelaide and at Australian Open but fallen at that stage at two other tournaments.

That said, Bonzi also hasn’t made it past the second round of any ATP tournament in his entire career. A win here would mean a lot more to him than his lower-ranked but way more experienced opponent – the question is whether the occasion might get to him?

Herbert Scratches Past Kukushkin

Despite having fallen to 109th in the world, and having won just one main draw match this season, Herbert was an odds-on favourite coming into his opening round encounter against Mikhail Kukushkin.

And while he did manage a straight-set win, Herbert had his own struggles in the encounter.

In a match lasting a little less than two hours, Herbert registered a 7-6 (5), 7-5 win over Kukushkin, and despite failing to save both the break-points he faced in the encounter.

Herbert overcame a 0-3 deficit in the first set, and a 0-2 scoreline in the second to make a comeback win possible but against Bonzi things could get a lot tougher for the Frenchman.

Bonzi v Herbert Prediction and Tip

This is an intriguing contest because on paper Bonzi holds the aces but the lack of experience with winning successive matches at the highest level is an obvious concern. Expect a three-setter here.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
