Nakashima Bounces Back from Dallas Setback

Nakashima has fond memories of Delray Beach because it was here he made his first ATP quarter-final as a teenager two years ago.

He began the year hoping to build on his achievements in 2021, which included back-to-back final appearances in Los Cabos and Atlanta, a win on the Challenger Tour, and qualification for the NextGen ATP Finals in Milan.

The American reached the quarter-finals in Sydney, but would have been disappointed to go out of the Australian Open at the first round stage.

More disappointment came last week in Dallas, where he was knocked out in the second round by the Australian, Jordan Thompson.

He bounced back from that, though, in the best possible way, by comprehensively defeating compatriot Denis Kudla in the first round here, dropping just two games in a match that lasted under an hour.,

Mannarino Getting Back to His Best Form

Mannarino is showing signs that he may be getting back to his best form after a period in the doldrums.

Having won just 14 matches in the whole of 2021, he has already won more than half that number already this year, and the new season is just seven weeks old.

His results have included a run to the fourth round of the Australian Open, and it took the eventual champion, Rafael Nadal to stop him.

And then, on home soil, he reached the quarter-finals in Montpellier before he was out-classed by Alexander Zverev.

Switching his attention to America, he made another quarter-final in Dallas, losing to another man who would go on to claim the title, Reilly Opelka.

The Frenchman he began his campaign in Delray Beach with a comfortable straight sets win over the British qualifier, Liam Broady, the world number 116.

Nakashima v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

At the start of the season. Nakashima would have been the clear favourite for this match, but Mannarino’s form this year makes him an opponent to be respected. The American should still advance, but it could be a close match.

Tip: Nakashima to win: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
