Miomir Kecmanovic v Francisco Cerundolo Head to Head

This will be the second meeting between these two players after the pair faced off just last week on the clay courts of Buenos Aires. The Argentine was victorious in his home country, defeating his Serbian opponent 6-3 3-6 6-2 to lead the H2H 1-0.

Kecmanovic has booked his slot in the quarter-finals all the way from qualifying without dropping a set in qualifying and the main draw successfully navigating his way past Heide and Dellien to reach the main draw. Then continuing his form in the main draw, defeating Meligeni Alves 6-3 6-0 in the opening round, and most recently defeating 6th seed Sonego 7-5 6-4 in the round-of-16 to score his second win of the year over the Italian.

Throughout their clash in Brazil, the Serbian hit 1 ace and won 71% of first serve points behind the first serve, but more impressively, winning 79% behind the second serve. The high success rate behind Kecmanovic’s serve resulted in him facing just one break point throughout the tie. Winning 39% of return points compared to just 26% for Sonego, Kecmanovic booked his spot in the quarter-final.

The Serbian posted an impressive 4th round birth back in January, reaching the last-16 by defeating Caruso, Paul, and Sonego before losing to Monfils in the round-of-16.

Cerundolo Seeking Second Win Over Kecmanovic

Cerundolo is searching for his second win in two weeks over Kecmanovic after defeating him last week in front of his home crowd. Cerundolo kicked off his Rio Open with a 3-set victory over Paire, then backing this up with a straight-sets win over Carballes Baena, defeating the Spaniard 6-3 6-2.

The Argentinian delivered 2 aces during the match and won 87% of points behind the first serve, dropping just 4 points behind this delivery the entire match. The 23-year-old won 51% of return points and was able to break the Carballes Baena serve 4 times throughout thr 71 minute encounter. Winning 63% of points, Cerundolo comfortably booked his spot in the last-8.

In January, Cerundolo lifted silverware on the challenger circuit, winning the Santa Cruz challenger in Bolivia, along the way he defeated Diaz Acosta, Tirante, Moreno De Alboran, Dellien, and finally compatriot Ugo Carabelli in the final  6-4 6-3 to lift the trophy.

A second victory over Kecmanovic would secure a semi-final spot where he would face off against either Schwartzman or Andujar for a spot in the final.
