Reilly Opelka v John Millman Head to Head

Millman has a perfect 3-0 record against the American. The Aussie won in Tokyo in 2019 and in Queens and Washington last year.

Opelka Extends Dominance Over Mannarino

A week after defeating Adrian Mannarino in the quarterfinals in Dallas, second seed Reilly Opelka defeated the Frenchman yet again, this time in the last eight stage of the Delray Beach Open.

It was a bit closer this time, as Mannarino took a set off Opelka to take the match into the decider. But the World No. 20 raised his level in the third set to march into a second consecutive semifinal. Last week, Opelka had gone all the way to win his third tour-level title, by defeating Jenson Brooksby in the Dallas Open final.

The 6’11” American is in top form this season and Friday’s win over Mannarino improved his 2022 record to 10-3. The 24-year-old was also a semifinalist in Sydney and had reached the third round of the Australian Open.

A champion at Delray Beach in 2020, Opelka began his 2022 challenge with a tough 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 second round win over compatriot Jack Sock.

On Friday, Opelka needed two hours and two minutes to beat Mannarino 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-1. After firing 21 aces against Sock, the American struck 19 in the quarterfinal and also won 85% points off his first serve.

The victory extended Opelka’s winning streak to six matches. Can he extend it further on Saturday?

Millman Motors Along

Having won just one match from four tournaments, John Millman had not had an ideal start to the year. But things have changed for the World No. 91 at Delray Beach, as he notched his third win of the tournament on Friday to enter the semifinals.

Millman stunned third seed Grigor Dimitrov with a 6-4, 6-4 victory in an hour and 35 minutes to book a place in the final four for the first time since winning the title in Nur Sultan in 2020.

The 32-year-old Australian won the first set with ease, getting the sole break in the ninth game. He found himself in a bit of trouble in the second set, losing the first three games but came back well, winning the next three to draw level. Millman broke the Bulgarian a second time in the set to go up 5-4 and then served out the match in the next game.

The Australian, who had never won a match in Delray Beach in the past three appearances, had beaten American Maxime Cressy 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-3) in the first round. He had a relatively easier second round, beating another American Marcos Giron 6-3, 7-6 (8-6).

Opelka v Millman Prediction and Tip

With a 6-0 current streak, Opelka will be high on confidence, but he will be wary of an opponent whom he has failed to beat in their three meetings. Expect a good contest, with the American finally getting his first win over the Aussie.

Tip: Opelka to win: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
