Norrie Stalls Paul’s Run
Top seed Cameron Norrie marched into the final of the Delray Beach Open with a straight sets victory over Tommy Paul on Saturday.
The World No. 13 won 75% points on his first serve, converted three of four break points and saved both the break points that he faced to win the semifinal match 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and 17 minutes.
After a poor 0-4 start to the season in Australia, Norrie finally got going in Rotterdam last week, reaching the quarterfinals, before storming into the Delray Beach title match with a solid display this week.
The lefty, who won two ATP titles from six finals last year, began his Delray Beach campaign with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Germany’s Oscar Otte in the Round of 16 and then got his first win over Sebastian Korda, defeating the American 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4) in the quarterfinal.
The 26-year-old, who lost in the semifinals last year, will be aiming to win a third ATP title. He won the Los Cabos Open and at the Indian Wells Masters last year. He was also a finalist in Estoril, Lyon, Queens and San Diego.

Opelka Extends Winning Streak
World No. 20 Reilly Opelka extended his unbeaten run to seven matches as he outlasted Australia’s John Millman in a three-hour semifinal at the Delray Beach Open on Saturday.
Opelka struck 16 aces and won 82% first serve points to win 7-6 (10-8), 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4). It was the American’s third three-set win in the tournament. He had begun the tournament with a 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 second round win over compatriot Jack Sock in the second round.
On Friday, Opelka had ousted France’s Adrian Mannarino 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
He had also beaten the Frenchman last week in Dallas. The 6’11” American had gone on to win his third tour-level title, by defeating Jenson Brooksby in the Dallas Open final.
It’s been an extremely good start for the 24-year-old this year, who was also also a semifinalist in Sydney and had reached the third round of the Australian Open.
On Sunday, Opelka will be looking to claim a second title in Delray Beach, having won his first in 2020.
Norrie v Opelka Prediction and Tip
Opelka is in red-hot form. He has lost just one of his last 10 matches and got into a habit of winning close three-setters in the tournament. Norrie is the top seed and has struck form here. Three sets seem imminent in this contest with Norrie edging out Opelka.
