Following a 0-4 start down under, Cameron Norrie has regained his touch of last season and comes to Acapulco as the Delray Bay champion, having won the title on Sunday.
Norrie defeated Dallas Open champion Reilly Opelka 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-4) in the title clash to claim his third tour-level title. He had won two from six finals last season.
The World No. 12 was also a quarterfinalist in Rotterdam two weeks ago. He comes to Acapulco with a 6-5 season record and a 5-4 record in Acapulco.
Norrie’s best performance in Acapulco came in 2019, when he reached the semifinals before falling to Alexander Zverev. The 26-year-old left-hander made it to the last eight stage in 2021 but his progress was stalled by Dominik Koepfer.
Norrie’s two titles last year came in Los Cabos and Indian Wells, while he finished runner-up in Estoril, Lyon, Queen’s and San Diego.

Altmaier Qualifies for the Main Draw
Germany’s Daniel Altmaier has qualified for the main draw with two tough three-set wins in the qualifying rounds.
The World No. 84 defeated America’s Ernesto Escobedo 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 on Saturday and then rallied from a set down against the United States’ Denis Kudla 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday.
Altmaier is 2-6 in the main draws this season, with both his wins coming in Pune, where he was a quarterfinalist. He hasn’t been able to win a single match in the other five tournaments. Most recently, he was knocked out from the first round of the Delray Beach Open by Jack Sock.
This will be a debut main draw appearance for the 23-year-old German in Acapulco.
