Tereza Martincova v Arantxa Rus Head to Head
It’s 1-0 to Martincova although, her last sole win over the Dutchwoman came in the 2014 WTA Bastad qualifiers with 6-1, 6-2.

Tereza Martincova has delivered one of her most impressive results in recent history by upsetting Elina Svitolina in the 2022 Qatar Open.
It was a commendable performance from the Czech, who rallied from a set down to take the match 6-7(2), 7-5, 7-6(5) in three hours. In the final set, Martincova was trailing 3-5 and was two points away from the defeat; however, she kept her cool and broke Svitolina’s serve at a crucial juncture to take the game into a tiebreak.
The 27-year-old will now hope to build on this win. So far in 2022, the current World No. 43 is yet to win multiple matches in a WTA event.
While Martincova did reach the quarterfinal in St. Petersburg, it was on the back of Elena Rybakina’s withdrawal in round two. She ultimately lost to Irina-Camelia Begu.
In other campaigns of the season, her journey was ended in the opening rounds. As a doubles player, however, she has already reached two finals this year in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Rus Knocks out Kudermetova
World number 66 Arantxa Rus defeated Veronika Kudermetova 7-6(5), 6-4 to reach the second round. She took advantage of Kudermetova’s action-heavy week (and the subsequent fatigue) in Dubai last week where she ended as the runner-up.
This also marks one of the most significant victories for the 31-year-old, who has beaten only four top 30 players since 2013. She has now got the opportunity to reach the round of 16 of a WTA 1000 event for the first time ever in her career.
Interestingly, Rus started as a qualifier in Doha but lost to Stefanie Vogele in the final qualifying round. But by the virtue of the lucky loser rule, she got a ticket to the main draw.
Not so surprisingly, her season so far has been largely mundane. She lost in the first round in both Australian events and followed it with a quarterfinal stint in an ITF event in France.
Martincova v Rus Prediction and Tip
Martincova is by far the superior player here but Rus, bolstered by her recent win, will be optimistic about her chances. However, the Czech should come out on the top at the end. After all, she has a slightly better pedigree and overall form.
