Daniil Medvedev v Pablo Andujar Head to Head

There has been just one previous meeting between these two players and Medvedev had won that one at the 2021 US Open, routing his opponent in straight sets.

Medvedev Eases Past Paire

Rejoining the tour after his runnerup trophy at Australian Open, Medvedev did have a few struggles but in the end made it through to the second round in Acapulco in straight sets.

The Russian registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over Benoit Paire in a match lasting an hour and 42 minutes.

The first set went to script when Medvedev broke his French opponent early and then once more as Paire served to stay in the set. It was in the second that the world number two endured some trouble when he went 2-4 down with Paire breaking him in the fifth.

Soon after that though Medvedev retaliated with back to back breaks of serves and clinched his place in the second round.

With that bit of rustiness out of his way, Medvedev should enter this round of 16 encounter with a lot of confidence.

Andujar Needs Only an Hour

Andujar isn’t much of a player on hard court surfaces but facing up to an opponent ranked 566th in the world, he did not have to worry too much about the surface.

The world number 68 wasted no time in getting past Mexican wildcard Juan Serrano in his opening round encounter, winning 6-0, 6-1. The match lasted just 62 minutes and saw Andujar break his opponent six times in the encounter.

This victory comes on the back of three solid results for Andujar too.

He had made the third round at Australian Open, the second round in Buenos Aires and then overcame Pablo Cuevas and the much-favoured Albert Ramos Vinolas to reach the Rio quarterfinals last week.

Can he put up a fight against Medvedev though? Seems unlikely on hard court surfaces.

Medvedev v Andujar Prediction and Tip

This should be a piece of cake for Medvedev and a straight-set win for the Russian looks the most possible outcome.

Tip: Medvedev to win in straight sets: 1/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
