Cristian Garin v Alejandro Tabilo Head to Head
Christian Garin and Alejandro Tabilo played once before and it came last year at this event with Garin winning 6-2 6-2.

Struggles and More Struggles for Garin
Cristian Garin is not having a very good start to the season and his level on clay has been particularly worrying. The Chilean has established himself as a very solid all-rounder who can play on all surfaces. However, clay is where he grew up and naturally where he plays his best.
Not this year though as he has an 0-2 record on clay losing both matches he played. Coming back home to Chile should be comforting for Garin who is defending the title this week and many expect him to win it again. It won’t be easy as he is clearly struggling with his confidence and level.
Losing to Sebastian Baez in Cordoba was not terrible as he put up a good fight however the loss against Federico Coria in Rio de Janeiro was worrying. The Argentine thrashed him 6-2 6-0 and that level won’t cut it against Tabilo as it’s his home event as well.

Tabilo Cracking the Code
Alejandro Tabilo grew up far away from clay and Chile as he called Canada home for the majority of his life. However, it’s clay that has given him his first major breakout as the Chilean is playing superb tennis this golden slam. His signature event came in COrdoba where he played in the final and almost won it.
He lost in the 1st round of Buenos Aires but he was coming off of a very long week in Cordoba where he started in the qualifiers. In order to properly recharge, he skipped over Rio and travelled to Chile and Santiago. In round one he easily defeated Renzo Olivo to set up the rematch with Garin.
They played last year and Garin was convincing however things are quite different this time around. Tabilo is a much more confident and plays much better with Garin going the opposite way. Can the lower-ranked Chilean get the upset win?
Garin v Tabilo Prediction and Tip
So this is a very interesting one both from a betting perspective and a tennis perspective. If you judge by form Tabilo should be the favourite yet he is not with Garin holding it slightly. His form recently has been abysmal yet it has to end at some point as he is a very solid tennis player overall.
Tabilo has yet to produce the magic from Cordoba a few weeks but the comfort of playing ‘home’ should give him an added boost. He is more aggressive than Garin however the better-ranked Chilean has more variety in his game. It will mostly come down to how Garin plays. If he finds his best form he should easily win this match.
I don’t know whether he will do that but I think it will be close. I would not be surprised if Tabilo actually won this match but I would be surprised if Garin puts up a lousy effort. Playing in front of friend and family should motivate both to give a good show.
Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
