Maria Camila Osorio Serrano v Anna Kalinskaya Head to Head

Pivotal year for Kalinskaya
Anna Kalinskaya was hailed as a very bright talent a few years ago and while the Russian had flashed that talent at times her overall level and consistent have been off. There were injuries and off court stuff that impacted her but she possesses too much tennis skill to be a fringe top 100 player with more time spent out of the top 100 than inside.
The conditions in Mexico suit her game really well and the Russian has been hitting the ball more consistently than usually. It translated into some impressive wins over players that realistically should have beaten her. Neither of her matches was a thrashing with both being very close but it shows her confidence this week.
That confidence might prove key against Osorio Serrano who can certainly hurt Kalinskaya. Both like to attack and both can do it well. Consistency in that playstyle will determine who will win the match.
Osorio Serrano v Kalinskaya Prediction and Tip
The only match they played came last year and it was on grass. That surface is very tricky to gauge and hard to predict how they might stack up on hard. Guadalajara allows the ball to fly really fast which is something that should fit both. Kalinskaya has the better serve overall and that can prove crucial.
Both will have chances to attack the serve of the opponent, especially the weaker 2nd one. Both like to attack and it will come down to consistency. The Colombian has been slightly more consistent this week but either way, it’s going to be a very close match.
I expect Osorio Serrano to pull through as she has shown more on this level than Kalinksaya. The Russian is having a good year and she might win this but I doubt it. I back the Colombian to win this in three sets.
