Marie Bouzkova v Wang Qiang Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two players and it came at the 2019 Wuhan Open. Wang Qiang won that second round encounter in straight sets.

Bouzkova Makes Another Guadalajara Semi

She had played two previous editions of the Guadalajara Open and both times, Bouzkova had made it to the semifinals. For the third time in a row, Bouzkova has entered the last four stage, defeating the much-favoured Sara Sorribes Tormo in her previous round.

Making that a brilliant win was its clinical nature as well, as Bouzkova romped to a 6-4, 6-1 win in an hour and 47 minutes. And while the Czech player faced eight break-points and was broken twice, she retaliated with six breaks of serve of her own.

The difference between the two players came in their first serve points won – Bouzkova won 76% of them to Sorribes Tormo’s mere 43%.

Earlier, Bouzkova had gotten Misaki Doi in her first round encounter – needing three sets to get there – and then was a straight-set winner over Lucia Bronzetti in the second round.

Qiang Slowly Getting Back into Rhythm

Qiang’s biggest career result had come at the 2020 Australian Open where she had defeated Serena Williams to move into the fourth round. Around that time, she had also achieved her career-best ranking of 12th in the world but things have gone slightly pear-shaped after that for the Chinese player.

In fact such has been her struggle that Qiang has fallen to 144th on the charts and going into the Australian Open this year had played in two WTA events but failed to make it past the qualifiers.

A shock win over Cori Gauff at Australian Open helped her make the third round there and three straight-set wins here have helped her enter the semifinals. In turn they would have helped Qiang garner some confidence heading into her last-four encounter.

With just 14 games lost in the three matches she has played so far, Wang Qiang could be a player to watch out in this one.

Bouzkova v Qiang Prediction and Tip

While Bouzkova is the higher-ranked player, Qiang’s form all tournament should give her bit of an edge here. Expect a three-set win for the Chinese player.

Tip: Qiang to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
