Konjuh Hoping to Add Opening Round Wins

It has been a middling kind of a season for Konjuh so far, having registered six wins across four tournaments but losing four matches as well.

After having reached the quarterfinal at both, the Melbourne Summer Set 1 and Adelaide International, Konjuh fell in the second round at Australian Open. A loss to the much-favoured Danielle Collins there was par for the course and another defeat at the same stage to Anett Kontaveit in Doha was also on expected lines.

Against Kontaveit, in fact she was a whopping 7/2 going into the encounter and against a player who has won nine of her last 10 matches, a straight-set loss wasn’t too surprising.

Konjuh will go into this encounter against Boulter with wins in the opening round of each of her four tournaments, gunning for a fifth one in a row.

Boulter on a Seven-Match Winning Streak at Lower Level

Britain’s Boulter has featured in a couple of WTA competitions this season but didn’t make the main draw at either. This forced her to go back to the drawing board, play at the ITF level and in the second tournament she played – in Grenoble – Boulter went on to win five in a row to win the title.

In the semifinal, she overcame the favourite Tatjana Maria in straight sets before needing a stiff three-setter to get past Ana Blinkova in the final.

Armed with a lot more confidence, Boulter has managed to carve out two easy wins in the qualifiers – dropping 11 games in total across the four sets.

Will that be enough to get past Konjuh, breaking her run of first round wins?

Konjuh v Boulter Prediction and Tip

This could turn out to be a solid contest and while Konjuh will be a favourite – a heavy one at that at 2/5 – to win this, expect Boulter to put up a fight.

Tip: Konjush to win AND Over 20.5 games: 8/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
