Renata Zarazua v Harmony Tan Head to Head
While these two players have never faced off at the highest level before this, there have been two previous matches between them on the ITF circuit. Both times, it was Zarazua who came out a winner.

Zarazua’s career-best ranking is 117th in the world and the manner in which she has started off this season, it does seem like she needs to do a lot better to break into the top 100.
Having started off on the ITF circuit, Zarazua lost her opener at an Orlando tournament in January and then earlier this month in another competition, she went down in three sets in another first round match.
Moving on to the Guadalajara Open, a competition in her own country, Zarazua put up a fight against Magdalena Frech but for the third time in a row came second best. She lost 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4.

Tan Already Has Two Surprises This Year
This is the fourth tournament Tan is appearing in this season and while she was knocked out in the qualifiers of the first at Adelaide, things have looked up for her ever since.
At Australian Open, which is where she headed to next, Tan shocked Yulia Putintseva in the first round despite going into the encounter at 5/2 odds to win it.
And more shocks were to follow, with Tan overpowering Madison Keys in the opening round of the Guadalajara Open which was played last week. It was probably Tan’s biggest win of her career, with the Frenchwoman coming through in three sets against a player who was 1/10 to win the match.
A second round loss followed, much like at Australian Open but those two wins would have done Tan no harm.
That confidence showed in Monterrey earlier this week too, as Tan made it through the qualifiers to enter the main draw with back to back straight-set wins. She should not have a lot of issues against Zarazua here.
