Heather Watson v Jule Niemeier Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Niemeier, Seeking a Revival in Mexico
The season so far may not have gone as per the plan for Germany’s Jule Niemeier, but let us not forget that this is a player who has moved up more than 130 places in the ranking in the last 12 months.
She is now World No. 110 – a career-high for her – and looks determined to make a top 100 debut in a matter of weeks.
Her exploits so far are restricted to qualifying rounds; the 22-year-old made it to the final qualifying round in the Australian Open while in St. Petersburg, she reached the main draw after outperforming Anna Bondar, Natalia Vikhlyantseva, and Erika Andreeva.
Niemeier’s last stint was in an ITF event where she fell to Urszula Radwanska in the opener.
Her defining spell in 2021 came on the clay courts, notably her ITF title run in Prague and semifinal stints in Strasbourg and Hamburg. Niemeier finished the hardcourt tour with a tally of 9-9; still better than Watson’s 7-13.

Watson, Low on Momentum
Ranking just 10 places below Niemeier, Heather Watson’s season hasn’t been particularly impressive either.
She lost in the qualifiers in both her Middle-Eastern events in Dubai and Doha, respectively to Ajla Tomljanovic and Marina Melnikova. In the Australian swing, Watson fared comparatively better, having reached the second round in Melbourne Slam and the main draw in Adelaide as a qualifier.
The 29-year-old Brit hasn’t seen a silverware of any kind since reaching the doubles final here in Monterrey last year with Saisai Zheng. On the singles circuit in 2021, she has just scraped through the opening rounds without a lot to show for.
Barring a semifinal run in Birmingham, Watson failed to deliver a momentous run. This is also the reason why she dropped out of the top 100.
Niemeier v Watson Prediction and Tip
This match can quite likely swing either way but Niemeier’s prospects are slightly better than Watson’s. However, it may not be an easy match for the two players. Expect this one to see a fair bit of tennis.
