Elina Svitolina v Camila Osorio Head to Head

Elina Svitolina reached her first WTA quarterfinal of the season after knocking out Viktoriya Tomova in the second round. The number one ranked Ukrainian needed two and a half hours to seal the win with 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-2.
The victory follows the statement win that Svitolina made against Russia’s Anastasia Potapova in the opener. She won the match 6-2, 6-1 and now hopes to go the distance.
With the troubles of her homeland on her mind, Svitolina can’t really be faulted if she fails to deliver. That said, she has vowed to donate her Monterrey Open prize money to the Ukrainian army and humanitarian needs and hopes to make her country proud by winning.
For what it’s worth, the current world number 15 has a decent track record in Monterrey. Svitolina won the title here in 2020; since then, she has won just two additional trophies – Strasbourg in 2020 and Chicago Open in 2021.
Owing to a lacklustre spell last season, she dropped out of the top 10 but not before bagging an Olympic Bronze and reaching the quarters in the US Open.

Osorio on a Roll
20-year-old Camila Osorio has reached the elite eight once again this season – this time in Monterrey. After knocking out Magdalena Frech in the first round, she defeated Marcela Zacarias in straight sets with 7-6(2), 6-3.
The young Colombian delivered a similar result last week in Guadalajara, overcoming Tomova and Hailey Baptiste in the opening matches.
These results mark the best run for Osorio since reaching the final in Tenerife last year. Since that runner-up feat, the World No. 44 featured only in the Australian Open where she lost to Naomi Osaka in the first round.
Overall, she had a good spell in 2021 having cracked the top 100 after starting the season as World No. 186.
Svitolina v Osorio Prediction and Tip
Svitolina will start this match as the overwhelming favourite – she has the experience, skills, an enviable pedigree and more importantly, motivation to win this match. However, it may not be a straightforward win for her.
