Dayana Yastremska v Caroline Garcia Head to Head
It is 2-0 to Yastremska who won both her matches over Garcia in 2019, the highlight being the final of the Strasbourg Open in three sets.

Yastremska, Rising to the Occasion
Around two weeks ago, 21-year-old Dayana Yastremska escaped war-torn Ukraine with her younger sister to Romania – leaving behind her parents and family. She safely made her way to France and participated in the Lyon Open.
Despite the troubles in her homeland, Yastremska played some superb tennis and reached the final after defeating the likes of Ana Bogdan, Cristina Bucsa, Jasmine Paolini, and Sorana Cirstea. The Ukrainian lost Shuai Zhang but in the process, she made her country proud.
Now Yastremska has a chance to do so on a much bigger stage. She has moved up to the #103 position in the rankings – and even though this is a far cry from her career-best of No. 21, there is no reason why she can’t get there again.
Since returning to the tour in July last season (following a successful appeal to her provisional suspension for doping), Yastremska has spent much of her time rebuilding her momentum. The results, however, have been quite the opposite. She lost in the early rounds in nine different competitions and ended up crashing out of the top 100.
Nonetheless, she has five singles finals to her name already and has already shown a great deal of promise.

Garcia, Looking Confident
Caroline Garcia also spent the last week in Lyon where she reached the semifinal before losing to Zhang. Her path to the final four, however, was relatively less challenging as she faced Camila Giorgi, Martina Trevisan, and Alison Van Uytvanck.
That said, the Frenchwoman found herself fighting for three sets in all those wins. It was also her best performance of the season, effectively surpassing her quarterfinal feat in Sydney Classic – courtesy of a walkover against Elena Rybakina in round two.
Since then, the #66-ranked Garcia played in Melbourne, Dubai, and Doha but couldn’t make it past the early rounds. In fact, most of Garcia’s previous season has been along similar lines.
Looking at her track record in Indian Wells, she has reached the round of 16 a few times but in the last two editions, she fell in the opening matches.
Garcia v Yastremska Prediction and Tip
Yastremska will start as the odds-on favourite but given Garcia’s superior experience and recent form, this can just as likely go either way.
