Filip Krajinovic v Dusan Lajovic Head to Head

It’s 1-1 from their two meetings but it will be their first meeting since 2015.

Krajinovic Looking to Replicate Montpellier Form

Filip Krajinovic brings a 6-5 season record to Indian Wells. His best this year came at Montpellier, where he defeated Alexei Popyrin, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Damir Dzhumur en route the semifinals, before falling to eventual champion Alexander Bublik.

In the other tournaments, while he went 2-1 at the ATP Cup, he made disappointing first-round exits from the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open. In Dubai, he did cross the first hurdle, beating Malek Jaziri, but fell to Mackenzie McDonald in the second round.

The 30-year-old Serb is 5-4 at Indian Wells and had made it to the fourth round of the tournament in 2019, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the Round of 32.

Yet to win an ATP tournament, Krajinovic has had four runner-up finishes, with the last of those coming in 2021 in Hamburg. A run to the final of the Paris Masters in 2017 remains his best showing at an ATP 1000 event.

Lajovic’s Struggles Continue

Dusan Lajovic has better success rate on clay than on other surfaces. But he has had a bit of a disappointing season so far.

Blanked 0-3 at the ATP Cup, he notched a win each in Sydney, Australian Open, Buenos Aires and Acapulco but was knocked out in the first round in Rio. So things haven’t been easy for him on clay either. The 31-year-old is yet to score successive wins this year, a stat that would bother him a lot, particularly because he hasn’t won consecutive matches since August last year.

It was in Toronto when he last won two rounds, with one of those victories coming over Felix Auger-Aliassime. That was one of the highlights in what was a poor 18-28 season for the Serb.

And the 2019 Monte Carlos finalists struggles have spilled onto the new year, He is 4-8 so far in 2022 and will be desperate to get a few wins under his belt. Could Indian Wells begin that turnaround?
