Rebecca Peterson v Harmony Tan Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two players before this and Peterson had won that Linz Open encounter in straight sets.

Peterson Hoping to Better Indian Wells Record

She has featured in this tournament on three previous occasions but Peterson is yet to make it past the first round at either of them. After failing to qualify in 2018, the Swede was knocked out of the Indian Wells Open in round one in 2019 and 2021.

Coming into this year’s competition, Peterson doesn’t have too many main draw wins to show for her effort either.

In three of the four tournaments she has played, Peterson managed a first round victory but lost in the second. Making it worse is two of those losses came against lesser-pedigreed players.

And just before the start of this competition, Peterson featured at the St. Petersburg Open where, as a qualifier, Peterson crashed out in the opening round.

Can the world number 76 break the hoodoo and make it through to the second?

Tan Makes it Through the Qualifiers

After getting bagelled in the first set of her second qualifying round in this tournament by Alexandra Krunic, Tan came back strongly in the next two sets to qualify for the main draw of the Indian Wells Open this season.

This was after she had defeated Priscila Hon in the opening round action.

Interestingly, Tan is currently ranked 91st in the world, which is also her career-best ranking forged on the back of second round appearances at Australian Open, Guadalajara Open and Monterrey Open.

Wins over Yulia Putintseva and Madison Keys at two of them should give her the confidence coming into this one as well, especially against a player who has been struggling to notch up wins.

Peterson v Tan Prediction and Tip

While Peterson is the higher-ranked player, we are backing Tan for a win here. At 6/5 the odds look too tempting to let go off.

Tip: Tan to win: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
