Elena Rybakina v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head

They played twice before with Rybakina winning both of the matches. The first was played on grass and the 2nd on hard courts in Doha two years ago.

Rybakina Aiming for Trophy

Elena Rybakina is the type of player that thrives in conditions like Indian Wells. The player from Kazakhstan can unleash her baseline game with ease as serves are not as potent as on other hard courts. On the other hand, it also neutralizes her own powerful serve but she is able to compensate for it.

The major issue for Rybakina is the consistency with which she hits the ball. She finds herself overhitting balls quite frequently and it’s the final riddle she needs to solve before her career takes off properly. Maybe it will happen this week in California.

She is 7-5 on the year which is nothing spectacular but she is the favourite against Van Uytvanck. It remains to be seen if she can avoid disasters like her display against Jacqueline Cristian in Doha.

Mixed year for Van Uytvanck

Alison Van Uytvanck plays her best tennis on indoor hard courts which makes Indian Wells quite a daunting event for her. Nonetheless, she played just fine in round 1 defeating Dalma Galfi comfortably. The Belgian player has a pretty solid game for hard courts yet outdoors it rarely clicks.

Like many players, she struggles with a consistent level of tennis with her level fluctuating throughout the match. She rarely losses to worse players than herself but rarely beats top players as well which is in line with her ranking that hovers around the 50 mark for the most part.

I don’t see things changing here as Indian Wells presents a difficult proposition for her. It doesn’t suit her game as best and Rybakina is someone who can easily defeat her if things go right. Perhaps things go wrong and she is able to win, but it’s unlikely.

Rybakina v Van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip

Several things need to go right for Alison to be able to win this match. It’s highly unlikely that all will go right as Rybakina has the type of game that is tailor made for Indian Wells. A powerful and precise serve, strong baseline game albeit the consistency issue.

If the player from Kazakhstan plays her game she will win this comfortably. She can attack Van Uytvanck on her 2nd serve quite comfortably and the Belgian has no response. I think Rybakina will win in straight sets and I don’t see a way her opponent can do anything to stop her.

Tip: Rybakina to win in straight sets: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
