Jessica Pegula v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head
In their only previous meeting at the highest level, Pegula had defeated Bouzkova at the 2020 US Open to move into the second round. It was a close match that went to a tie-breaker in the final set.

After a very slow start to the season which saw Pegula lose both her opening round matches at Melbourne Summer Set 1 and Adelaide International, the American took control of her fortunes at the Australian Open which followed.
Pegula eased her way into the fourth round in the season’s first Grand Slam before going past the heavily favoured Maria Sakkari at the pre-quarterfinal stage. That she won just two games against Ash Barty in the quarterfinals was more to do with her opponent’s solidity and form.
Since then, however, Pegula hasn’t quite been able to reproduce that form in Dubai and Doha.
After defeating Cori Gauff at the former, Pegula fell to Ons Jabeur in round two while losing to Sakkari in the third round of the latter tournament.
She will need to shrug off any possible rust coming into this one too despite her good form as she looks to tame the in-form Bouzkova.

Bouzkova Eases Past Qiang
There was nothing to choose between Bouzkova and her first round opponent, Wang Qiang but the Czech qualifier got the better of her opponent in straight sets to enter round two in Indian Wells for the first time.
Bouzkova was on court for two hours and 14 minutes to get past Qiang despite getting broken on all three occasions she faced a break-point. She went one better by breaking Wang four times and converted it to a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win.
In a game of margins, Bouzkova had a slightly better first serve percentage, won more first serve points and edged past her opponent on the second serve points as well.
Things could get slightly tougher for Bouzkova now that she faces an opponent ranked 19th in the world but given her recent showings, she will back herself to get going.
Pegula v Bouzkova Prediction and Tip
While Pegula is a heavy favourite at 4/9 we believe Bouzkova has the tools to challenge her opponent and could sneak in at least a set.
