Cameron Norrie v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
Norrie leads Martinez 1-0 in their head-to-head, beating the Spaniard on his favorite surface at the Estoril Open in 2021.

Norrie Begins Title Defence
Less than six months since he won the biggest title of his career, Cameron Norrie will return to the Indian Wells tennis looking to embark on another potential coronation. Norrie’s unlikely triumph last October was an amazing feat that entrenched his name inside the world’s Top 20.
And he hasn’t stopped climbing the rankings. Aside from a shambolic ATP Cup campaign in which he struggled to find his range, Norrie played superbly outside Australian soil.
He picked up his first title of the season in Delray and reached the second final of 2022 in Acapulco where he lost to Rafael Nadal in straight sets. Prior to that, he shocked Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals for his first Top 10 win of the calendar.
The Briton is two spots away from breaking the world’s Top 10. And another deep run this fortnight could help his cause in pulling off that achievement and joining Andy Murray – who was the last British man to reach the elite level.

Martinez Beats Sousa To Extend Winning Spree
Pedro Martinez made it five wins on the trot after winning his first-round match against Portuguese lucky loser Joao Sousa.
Martinez captured a maiden ATP title on the clay of Santiago at the end of February and faced no challenges adjusting to the slow court surface at Indian Wells. The fact that he played an opponent who came through a pair of long and grueling qualifying matches helped his cause.
And Sousa was unsure if he would play in the main draw with being the first alternate to replace Novak Djokovic. Djokovic withdrew at the last minute, handing the Portuguese a lucky loser spot on short notice.
The two players exchanged breaks in the opening few games before Martinez grabbed a foothold in the set and the match from that moment on. Overall the Spaniard won 60% first-serve points and converted five of 11 break points to win 6-4 7-5 in a little over two hours.
Norrie v Martinez Prediction and Tip
Norrie enjoys the playing conditions at Indian Wells. But the hard court surface in the California desert is the closest thing to a clay court in terms of ball bounce. Odds on Martinez bagging a set might be worth taking.
Tip: Norrie to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
