Marin Cilic v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

Cilic Hopeful in Return to Desert
Marin Cilic missed last year’s Indian Wells so this year’s event will be his first since 2019. The Croatian generally never had too much success on the court as it kind of neutralizes his main weapon which is his serve. Players generally do well against Cilic if they are able to get the ball back into play often and that’s the case here.
Free points are scared and the Croatian has a well-documented history of throwing matches away. 2022 has been okay for him yet recently his form has dipped. He’s still a pretty good tennis player and on his day he can be dangerous to the majority of his opponents.
However, most of that will come on surfaces that enhance his skill and Indian Wells is not one of those. It’s also questionable what sort of form he will display but he can easily win and lose the match against Kecmanovic depending on his he plays.

Progress Made for Kecmanovic
Miomir Kecmanovic wasted last year as the Serbian never quite did things the right way. He lost way more matches than he won and it was just a lost year in his progression to becoming a better player. 2022 started off much better as the Serbian has already won almost the same number of matches as he did during the entirety of last year.
After Australia, he went to South America to play on some clay and he did rather well. The transition to Indian Wells was not too hard for him but he did have to outlast a very inspired Liam Broady in the first round. After doing that successfully he should feel confident moving forward.
Cilic provides a tricky proposition however the Croatian is most vulnerable on surfaces like here. Kecmanovic is more adept at slower surfaces anyway so this should be a good one for him.
Cilic v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip
This is an interesting matchup as the players are similar but also quite different. Cilic is the better server while Kecmanovic is the better mover. None of that should come shocking to tennis fans and generally, Kecmanovic should play better here by default.
He is a former quarterfinalist of the event while Cilic generally lost in the 2nd or 3rd round most years. The Serbian is also playing better this year overall than Cilic and he should in theory have more confidence in his game than Cilic. He is also a bit more stable when his game is working than Cilic who tends to complicate things.
Even so, I do believe this a very close match and I do think 3 sets are going to happen. That is a very good proposition for those fancying an over and I would tend to agree. When it comes to the winner I would back Kecmanovic.
Tip: Kecmanovic to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
