Grigor Dimitrov v Jordan Thompson Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between these two players, with Thompson currently leading the H2H 1-0. Their only previous meeting occurred on the hard courts of Miami in 2019 where the Australian was victorious 7-5 7-5 to lead the H2H.

Thompson Scores Impressive Win Over Goffin
Thompson opened his 2022 Indian Wells with a 3-set victory over David Goffin narrowly coming out on top against the Belgian 4-6 7-5 7-6(3) in a battle lasting nearly 3 hours.
During the match, Thompson hit 10 aces and won 75% of points behind the first delivery, dropping 14 points behind the first serve the entire match. Thompson was also able to save 67% of breakpoints Goffin created.
To prove how close this match was, both places won the same amount of games and points, a tiebreak can easily swing either way and Thompson escaped the Goffin challenge to set up the tie with Dimitrov.
Like Dimitrov, Thompson has posted consecutive match wins just once this year. For Thompson, this occurred on the hard courts of Dallas at the start of February where Thompson made the last-8, defeating Lopez and Nakashima in the opening rounds before losing to Brooksby 6-3 6-0.
