Anett Kontaveit v Marketa Vondrousova Head to Head

Vondrousova leads the matchup 2-1. Last year, they met twice with the Czech eking out a tough three-set win in the first round at Wimbledon, and Kontaveit getting her revenge in the Moscow semifinal.

Red-hot Kontaveit Off to a Flying Start

A winner in St. Petersburg and a finalist in Qatar, Annett Kontaveit has been terrific over the last two tournaments and she seems to have brought that form to Indian Wells, as the Estonian began her campaign on Saturday with a straight sets win over Kristina Kucova.

The 26-year-old Kontaveit, who won four titles from a staggering seven finals last year, got off to a slow start on Saturday with the Slovakian breaking early and going p 2-4 in the set. But the World No. 5 found her mojo back, winning the next four games in a row and taking the first set.

The fourth seed didn’t have much trouble winning the second set. Although she was broken once in the set but that was the only game she lost in the entire set. The 6-4, 6-1 win improved Kontaveit to 14-3 this year.

A semifinalist in Sydney, Kontaveit beat Maria Sakkari to claim her sixth career title in St. Petersburg. She also reached the final in Doha, but was denied the title by Iga Swiatek to stay 0-2 in WTA 1000 finals. She will be hoping to reach a hat-trick of finals in Indian Wells, where she was a quarterfinalist last year.

Vondrousova Breezes Past Frech

After withdrawing from the Dubai semifinal with a right abductor injury and pulling out from Doha, it was a test of fitness for Olympic silver medalist Marketa Vondrousova on Saturday and the Czech passed with flying colours.

Seeded No. 30, the World No. 33 needed just 68 minutes to bundle out Poland’s Magdalena Frech in the second round. Vondrousova converted 6 of 6 break points and saved three of five to win the match 6-1, 6-3.

The 2019 French Open runner-up improved her 2022 record to 10-3 for the season. She had a slow start, not going deep in Adelaide, falling in the third round at the Australian Open and in the opening round in St. Petersburg. But she found form in Dubai reaching the semifinals, before pulling out of the tournament.

Now into her fourth Indian Wells campaign she will be hoping to at least match her previous best, which was a quarterfinal finish in 2019.

Kontaveit v Vondrousova Prediction and Tip

Kontaveit will be the favourite in this contest. Expect Vondrousova to stretch the Estonian, but eventually the fourth seed should come through.

Tip: Kontaveit to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
