Daria Kasatkina v Angelique Kerber Head to Head
Angelique Kerber leads the head-to-head 5-4, beating the Russian in their most recent match, incidentally, in the third round of Indian Wells in 2021.

Kasatkina Endures Uncomfortable Opener
Daria Kasatkina had a rough time in beating American wild card Katie Volynets in her second-round match. Having received a bye in the first round, Kasatkina was playing an opponent who had already acclimatized to the court conditions at the Indian Wells tennis garden.
Having taken the first set against the run of play, Kasatkina was pegged back by a spirited World No. 158 who broke her serve three times in a disastrous second set, in which she won 52% first-serve points and only 33% behind her second serve.
Kasatkina’s serve, in general, faltered, as evident with her nine double faults in the match. Ultimately though, the Russian World No. 28 dug deep to overcome a stubborn opponent in the third set, which saw her convert three of her five break points.
Kasatkina improves to 11-5 for the season and will renew a rivalry against Angelique Kerber for the 10th time. Can the 2018 finalist avenge last year’s loss to the German lefty?

Kerber Secures First Win Of 2022
It has taken her two and half months, but Angelique Kerber’s season is now up and running. Kerber’s start to 2022 was blighted by a positive coronavirus test which forced her to miss all warm-up tournaments in Australia.
And when she faced Kaia Kanepi in her first-round match at the Australian Open, it was clear she was unlikely to challenge at a venue she had triumphed before.
Kerber lost to the Estonian in straight sets and took a month off to overcome the ill-effects of Covid before she made her return to the court last month. A second early exit followed in Doha, despite leading Jil Teichmann by a set and a break in their first-round match.
There was a weight of pressure accompanying the World No. 16 to Indian Wells where she chased for that elusive first win of 2022. And it arrived, albeit in unlikely circumstances.
Kerber was the underdog coming into Friday’s match against Qinwen Zheng, the Chinese teenager who is making waves on the WTA tour. But the German’s veteran know-how proved the difference in a tough three-set match.
Kasaktina v Kerber Prediction and Tip
Neither of these two looks looked remotely comfortable in their second-round matches. But I like Kerber’s chances simply because she looked slightly more consistent in her win over a rapidly-improving opponent.
Tip: Kerber to win: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
